You’ve probably been using those store-bought lip balms, but it might be time to try making your own! There are lots of fun and interesting ways to make DIY lip balm, whether you want a classic mint flavor or something a little more unusual. You can use them all year round, as well as give them away as gifts.
The following is a guide on how to make DIY lip balm with simple DIY recipes. If you would like a more detailed list of ingredients, please see this post:
DIY Lip Balms using essential oils – for those with no crafting experience!
1.7 oz. jar with screw-on cap (You can use a glass or plastic jar – or your own recycled jars!)
Instructions for everyone! It is best to make three flavors of lip balm at once; one for you, and two to make up into cute little charms.
Gather your supplies:
1. You will need a parrafin bowl.
To make your lip balm smooth and creamy, you will need to melt your ingredients. You can do this in the microwave (if you need links to basic recipes of ingredients, feel free to message me) or if you have an iron, you can also pour them over a candle and then use that flame for heat.)
2. Now it is time for your DIY lip balm recipe!
There are a lot of fun recipes out there that are both simple and effective. Your ingredients will depend on which one you choose! The basic recipe is simple; beeswax and lip balm base, but you can also add essential oils and flavorings.
3. Pour your ingredients into a bowl or jar, then melt it in the microwave (or light a candle) and pour it all into your paraffin bowl. Stir well to combine, then pour into your jar! I love to include fun little sentiments on my lids as gifts!
4. Let the lip balm cool and set, then you are ready to use or gift!
Note: If your lip balm isn’t setting, let it sit in the fridge overnight. Good luck!
